Description

The third edition of the popular Rother hiking book Südtirol Ost has now been published. Not only has the data been updated, but new routes have also been added: the Neveser and Lausitzer Höhenweg and the Dürrenstein in the Dolomites for leisure hikers, and the high alpine Große Möseler on the main Alpine ridge for dedicated mountaineers.

Gerhard Hirtlreiter, who has been traveling in South Tyrol's mountains since his early youth, has selected a total of 53 routes that open up the eastern part of the country between Brenner, Bolzano and San Candido - from the mountain route on the Hochfeiler (at 3509 m the highest mountain in the Zillertal Alps) to the easy, incredibly impressive circumnavigation of the Three Peaks in the Dolomites. In addition to half-day and day hikes, routes lasting several days (such as the Pfunderer Höhenweg) are also described - popular classics and quiet insider tips, family-friendly alpine hikes as well as panoramic high-altitude trails and mountain routes on magnificent three-thousand-metre peaks.

Each tour is presented with detailed directions, color photos, a meaningful altitude diagram and a color hiking map on a scale of 1:50,000 with the route marked. Furthermore, there is a compact compilation of all the essential tour data: difficulty, duration, difference in altitude, accessibility (including the bus route to the starting point), suitability for children as well as places to stop for refreshments and overnight accommodation. These criteria are summarized in the tour table on the cover flap. This allows you to compare the data at a glance and easily select the routes that are most compatible. The Rother hiking book "Südtirol Ost - Eisacktal, Pustertal, Dolomiten" complements the hiking book "Südtirol West - Vinschgau, Meraner Land, Kalterer See". These two volumes cover the whole of South Tyrol with a total of 105 walking and mountain routes as well as numerous variants.

Gerhard Hirtlreiter | Bergverlag Rother | 3.
