Description

With 120.000 square miles, Oman is the size of Great Britain and Ireland combined. But it has only four million inhabitants. The landscape in the western part is dominated by the desert. But if you’re expecting monotonous sand deserts you’re wrong. Most parts of the country are dominated by rugged mountain ranges. The Al Hajar Mountains are in the northern part of the country. Jebel Shams is the highest peak with 2.998 meters above sea level. The Dhofar Mountains dominate the southern part of Oman. Jebal Samhan with 1.800 m is the highest peak in this area.

Jakob Oberhauser knows all the great climbing destinations in Oman. Many of them are published for the first time in this book. Here you can find the whole range from long multi pitch routes to single pitch sport climbs and deep water soloing. The book has 180 pages and 141 topo maps. It covers 26 areas and 104 sectors. Brilliant photos tempt the reader to visit this exotic climbing destination on the tip of the Arabian peninsula.

Beschriebene Gebiete:
Jabal Misht

Jabal Kawr

Jabal Ghul

Jabal Mishfah

Jabal M‘Saw

Wadi Nakhar

Jabal Fokha

Jabal Misfat Al Abriyeen

Wadi Tanuf

Nizwa Towers

Wadi Shur

Wadi Muaydin

Jabal Nakhus

Wadi Bani Awf

Wadi Mistal

Kubrah Canyon

Bandar Jissah

Wadi Mayh

Wadi Daykah

Wadi Suwayh

Umq

Umq Bir

Wadi Fins

Wadi Shab

Wadi Tiwi

Wadi Bani Khalid

Dhofar

Jakob Oberhauser | Panico Alpin publications | 1st edition 2014 | 180 pages | 141 topographic maps, complete 4-colored | format 11.5 x 18.5 cm | Softcover | Language: English
