Description

The DAV Planzeiger is a practical and universally usable tool for working with topographical maps. It provides valuable services for tour preparation and orientation in the terrain. Different scale bars make it easier to determine the distance on the 1:25 000 and 1:50 000 maps.

Two different grids are available to the user for precise location information with coordinates (e.g. UTM) in topographical maps. It also makes it easier to transfer coordinates measured with the GPS to the map.

With the map protractor (360°), direction angles that have been determined with a compass, for example, can be transferred to topographical maps using the bearing line. Directions can also be read from the map for setting on the compass. The angle is read off to the nearest degree using a thin nylon thread (bearing line).

For the map scale 1:25,000 and 1:50,000, a slope scale is available for determining the slope inclination in degrees made from the map. By comparing the scale distances with the distance between two neighboring contour lines, the slope inclination can be determined between 10° and 60°. This is important information, especially when assessing the risk of avalanches.

The DAV indicator, made from weatherproof, transparent film in 12x20 cm format, with detailed instructions for use.
