Description

The Apennines separate the Po Valley from Tuscany. Connecting routes through the Apennines were already known 2000 years ago, when the ancient Roman road was built. Even at that time, the Passo della Futa was the link between the two regions. In the Middle Ages in particular, this route was used by pilgrims from northern Italy and central Europe on their way to Rome. Today, a 100 km hiking trail follows in the footsteps of the old pilgrimage routes through the lonely mountains of the Apennines. The varied and challenging hiking trail takes hikers from the center of the cozy student city of Bologna to the gates of the tourist magnet Florence. Along the way, it passes numerous sacred and secular stops worth seeing, crowned by deserted forest passages and idyllic Tuscan landscapes.
<p
